Newtown Rotary recently embarked on an international visit to France in the quest for cricket glory. Captain Richard Bonfield drew upon Welsh and English Rotarians and guests in his quest. Sixteen players and supporters made the visit via Nantes.

The wicket proved uneven with considerable movement of the ball at times. The French opened with 189 runs scored in 35 over’s. This score proved difficult for Rotary to chase as Newtown Rotary scored 114 in reply.

Captain Richard was proud of his team’s performance and thanked the supporters for their encouragement during the game. A special thanks also to Rtn John Harries and Kath for organising the weekend. It was a memorable tour with hopefully more to follow.
